As per the UNICEF report Pakistan has the world’s second-highest number of out-of-school children with an estimated 23 million children aged 5-16 not attending school, representing 44 per cent of the total population in this age group.

Recognizing this alarming situation, RAPID Charity launched Literacy Program for Out-of-School Children on May 1, 2023 in Mughalabad, Rawalpindi. The program aims to uplift socio-economically marginalized Christian communities by providing basic education to children who otherwise remain deprived due to financial hardships or lack of awareness from their illiterate parents.

This Literacy Center in Mughalabad is serves 26 children, both boys and girls, aged between 5 and 10 years. Two young teachers from the local community, who are also recipient of Rapid Scholarship conduct classes from Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM to 12:30 PM.

Looking ahead, the program aims to expand by introducing vocational training for older children. This initiative will equip them with practical skills, enhancing their chances of economic independence and breaking the cycle of poverty.
